Have you always been curious about burlesque? Looking to unlock the tools to unleash your inner burlesque star?

If you are looking for high heels, sparkles and wicked confidence, this beginner focused course is for you. Over four 60 minute lessons, you will tease out the classic burlesque moves, to an old school burlesque soundtrack that will have you bumping and grinding in no time.

Suited for all ages, shapes, sizes and genders - no experience needed! This is the burlesque introduction you have been waiting for.

Classic Burlesque Course: The Art of Tease

Are you ready to unleash your inner burlesque queen?

This 6 week classic burlesque course will see you learn the art of seduction through dance. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to explore their sensual side and gain confidence in their body.

With experienced instructor Grace Cherry you will learn the fundamentals of burlesque including techniques for movement, posing and more!

This isn't just ANY dance class. Burlesque is all about self-expression and having fun, so expect to let loose and embrace your playful side. You'll be encouraged to channel your inner diva and own the stage.

Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this course is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all.

An exciting new pinup dance class brings together the artistry of burlesque and the charm of 1940s pinup poses! This unique fusion promises to be not only a fun dance class but also an opportunity to express yourself and celebrate glamour.

Low impact but not low on glamour!

You will have the opportunity to perform the routine at the Burlesque Showcase on 24 & 25 July at Moonah Arts Centre.

Step into the shadows and unleash your most deliciously dark side with our new Silk Fan Dancing Course. In our “Villains & Vamps” inspired class, you think femme fatales, wicked queens, and iconic burlesque baddies.

Using silk fans as our weapon of choice, we’ll dive into slinky, sweeping movements, sharp accents, and theatrical flourishes that ooze danger and allure.

You’ll learn how to transform your fans into extensions of character – from slow, hypnotic reveals to bold, striking shapes.

What to expect:

  • A sultry, high-drama routine full of attitude

  • Silk fan techniques tailored to storytelling and character play

  • Music inspired by classic villains, vampy jazz, and dark pop anthems

  • Space to unleash your inner femme fatale, villainess, or anti-hero to “Poor Unfortunate Souls”

🔥 Bring It On Burlesque Course – Spirit Fingers, Sass & Striptease! 🔥

Get ready to shake your pom-poms and strut your stuff in this high-energy, cheeky, and totally unapologetic burlesque course inspired by the classic “Bring It On”.

We’ll blend the fierce attitude of cheer routines with sultry striptease flair, set to a mash-up of iconic Bring It On tracks and the ultimate teen anthem, Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus.

💃 What to expect:

  • Fun, high-energy choreography with a burlesque twist

  • A mash-up soundtrack that’s nostalgic and naughty

  • Plenty of character play

  • A chance to perform a full group number that’s equal parts sexy, sassy, and silly

WEAR and BRING

  • Wear something you can move and bend in (gym or yoga gear is great)

  • Heels optional

  • You will need a skirt for this class and a white tee that can be cut into a ‘tear away’ top (we will make these in class)

 Act Development Course

 

Are you thinking of making a solo debut? Wanting to refine your burlesque routine?

Get the right guidance and support for your burlesque journey through this intimate mentoring opportunity.

The Act Development course is a mentoring opportunity design to take your act from an idea to the stage, or to help you make sure your solo packs a WOW factor!

Work with Grace Cherry across individual intensive sessions and shorter group events - all designed to help you take an act from concept right up to stage.

This course includes performance outcomes of a “Work in Progress” event on 18 March 2026 at Kickstart Arts, New Town and two professional performances at Moonah Arts Centre on 24 and 25 July 2026.

More than just a one off opportunity - this program helps you with the stepping stones to a longer term burlesque practice - whether as a hobby or as a profession.

What does the course include?

  • x1 45- 60 minute online individual introduction session (booked by appointment)

  • x 1 group induction session online on Wednesday 28 January 2026 at 8pm - 8.40pm

  • x 4 individual coaching sessions with a focus on developing key skills you need for a professional solo debut - from choreography and concept to costuming and making a visual impression. Each session is booked by appointment in after work (5pm onwards) or weekend hours. A mix of in person and online sessions in consultation with the student.

  • x 1 group rehearsal presentation session

    Plus when you enrol you will also get:

  • Access to a private Facebook group for ongoing Q&A and troubleshooting

  • An original e-book by Grace Cherry full of tips and tricks

  • Bonus tip sheets to help you rehearse and build an act from scratch

  • Opportunity to perform your solo at the Work in Progress Burlesque Show at Kickstart Arts on 18 March 2026

  • Opportunity to perform your solo at the Burlesque Showcase at the Moonah Arts Centre on 24 and 25 July 2026

The investment is $200 for students that have participated in this program before and $350 for new participants. Payment plans available on request.

Gauntlet making workshop with Ida Ocean

$55 per person

No sewing machine? No worries! In this 1.5 hour workshop with Ida Ocean, we will be making a pair of gauntlet gloves from scratch, without a sewing machine! Gauntlets are gorgeous arm covers that can be part of a glove peel and reveal, or just a gorgeous accessory and more things to wear sparkle! 

All materials and equipment provided.

You will have the choice of doing light or dark coloured gauntlets. Ida will show you how to embellish your new gloves. 

Tea and coffee facilities available.

Cost: $55 including all materials.

This is an accessible venue.  There are a number of accessible parks in front of the venue, and parking is available on the street or at the rear of the building.
